AZALEA FALL SOCCER

Explorer - Under 6 

The Explorer Program offers introductory soccer instruction for boys and girls, featuring small-sided games in a fun and engaging environment. Activities are designed with an age-appropriate curriculum and fun soccer activities. 

• Practice starts the first week of October 2025 

• Regular Season starts on Friday, November 7th, 2025

• 12-game season 

• Games on Friday nights, 6:30 pm at Walter Fuller Park 

The U6 practices are either on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. The coaches get to pick which nights they want to practice. However, at the coaches' meetings, we work with the coaches to balance out between the nights so as not to overload the available field space. The coaches' meetings are scheduled for the week of September TBA. 

• 3 v 3 with no goalkeepers 

• Length of games - 40 minutes 

Players need a size #3 ball, a pair of soccer socks, and shin guards (cleats recommended). The League provides uniform. 

Participation in the Opening Day Parade of Teams on Saturday, October TBA. 

Challenger - Under 8 

 

In the Challenger Program, boys and girls receive introductory soccer instruction through small-sided games, with a focus on instruction and having fun. 

At this age, we try to separate boys' and girls' teams. It depends on the number of kids registered. 

• Practice starts in the first week of October 2025

• Regular Season starts the weekend of November 8th, 2025

• 12-game season 

• Regular Season ends the weekend of February 7th, 2026 

• Games on Friday nights at 6:30 or 8:00 pm. This year, we will form teams to play on Saturdays and travel within the County. Home games are at Walter Fuller Park. 

Weekly U8 practices on Tuesday and Thursday or Monday and Wednesday nights, from 6:00- 7:30 pm. 

The coaches get to pick which nights they want to practice. However, at the coaches' meetings, we work with the coaches to balance out between the nights so as not to overload the available field space. The coaches' meetings are scheduled for the week of September TBA. 

• 4 v 4 with no goalkeepers 

• Length of games - 48 minutes 

• Players need a size #3 ball, a pair of soccer socks, cleats, and shin guards, and the League provides a uniform 

• Participation in the Opening Day Parade of Teams on Saturday, October TBA. 

Classic - Under 10 Boys and Girls

In this age group, instruction begins to focus on teaching players how to strike the ball properly for passing and shooting purposes, as well as how to play away from the ball on a larger field. In the U10 and older age groups, there are no coed divisions, only all-boys and all-girls. 

• Practice starts in the first week of October 2025 

• Regular Season starts on Saturday, November 8th, 2025

• 11-game season 

• No heading allowed in this age group. 

• Regular Season ends on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 

• Games on Saturdays. Home games are at Walter Fuller Park. 

• Twice weekly practices on Tues./Thur. or Mon./Wed. nights, 6:00-7:30 pm 

Coaches have the option of picking their practice nights, depending on their availability. This will be determined and finalized at the coaches' meeting.

• The coaches' meetings are scheduled for the week of September TBA. 

• 7 v 7 with goalkeepers 

• Length of games - 50 minutes 

• Players need a size #4 ball, a pair of soccer socks, cleats, and shin guards 

• The league provides uniform 

• Participation in post-season GYSA Jamboree 

• The GYSA Jamboree is scheduled for February 2026 (Dates & Times To Be Announced), Location To Be Announced 

Classic - Under 12 Boys and Girls 

• Practice starts in the first week of October 2024 

• Regular Season starts on Saturday, November 8th, 2025

• 11-game season 

• No heading allowed in this age group. 

• The Regular Season ends on Saturday, February 7th, 2026 

• Games on Saturdays. Home games are at Walter Fuller Park. 

Practices are held twice a week on Tuesdays/Thursdays or Mondays/Wednesdays, from 6:00-7:30 or 7:30-9:00pm In the U12 and older age groups, there are no coed divisions; only all-boys and all-girls. Coaches can select their preferred practice times and nights based on their availability. These will be decided and finalized at the coaches' meeting. 

• The coaches' meetings are scheduled for the week of September TBA. 

• 9 v 9 with goalkeepers 

• Length of games - 60 minutes 

• Players need a size #4 ball, a pair of soccer socks, cleats, and shin guards 

• The league provides uniform 

• Participation in post-season GYSA Tournament 

• The 2025 GYSA Cup is scheduled for late February 2026 or early March (Dates & Times To Be Announced). Locations To Be Announced 

Classic - Under 14Boys and 14 Girls, U17 Boys and U17 Girls   

• Practice starts the first week of October 20245

• Regular Season starts on Saturday, November 8th, 2025

• 11-game season

• Regular Season ends on Saturday, February 8th, 2026

• Games on Saturdays. Home games are at Walter Fuller Park. 

Practices are scheduled twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays or Mondays and Wednesdays, from 7:30 to 9:00pm Coaches can select their preferred practice nights based on their availability. The final decision will be made at the coaches' meeting. These meetings are set for the week of September TBA. 

 

In the U14 and older age groups, there are no coed divisions, only all-boys and all-girls. 11 v 11 with goalkeepers . U17 could be 9x9 depending of the amount created in this age group.

Length of games: 

• U14 - 70 minutes 

• U17 - 80 minutes 

• Players need a size #5 ball, a pair of soccer socks, cleats, and shin guards 

• The league provides uniform 

• Participation in post-season GYSA Tournament 

• The 2025 GYSA Cup 1st Round is scheduled for February 2026 (Dates & Times To Be Announced), Locations To Be Announced
